The history of four world-leading Italian motoring brands
From the most emblematic models to the most successful, revolutionary people, and the most significant events, this section illustrates and celebrates the cornerstones of Alfa Romeo, Fiat, Lancia and Abarth.
Reloaded by creators is the Heritage project involving the sale of a small number of classic cars from the Alfa Romeo, Fiat, Lancia and Abarth brands: historic models, with certified authenticity, restored to their original beauty by the Constructor itself.
The 44th edition of the historical re-enactment of the 1000 Miglia kicked off today
Turin, June 9, 2026
Today, Brescia has been the starting line for the 44th edition of the 1000 Miglia, the historical re-enactment of the “most beautiful race in the world” – in the words of Enzo Ferrari – to return there June 13 after visiting some of the most evocative locations in Italy. As usual, Alfa Romeo is playing a leading role in the event, confirming its position as the most represented brand in the event with as many as 50 cars lining up on the starting grid. As always part race and part adventure, the 1000 Miglia is a regularity competition for vintage cars, reserved for models that ran the historical speed race or were produced in the same period, between 1927 and 1957. This year, over 400 priceless vintage cars from 33 countries will be taking part and will be measuring up in 144-time trials and eight timing checks.
The standout among these classic wonders is the 1956
Alfa Romeo 1900 Super Sprint
, belonging to the prestigious Heritage Hub Italy collection, usually on display at the
Alfa Romeo Historical Museum
in Arese. This priceless model will take part in the race followed by the official Alfa Romeo team and supported by the Alfa Romeo Classiche team. It will be driven by an exceptional crew made up of some of the members of the Subsonica musical group. The collaboration between the Turin band and the Biscione brand is thus consolidated, in the name of shared values such as style, innovation and courage. Launched in April with the show “Cieli su Torino 96-26” – four sold-out nights at OGR in Turin, one of the most memorable Italian live music events in 2026 – the partnership will continue in the coming months with the “Terre Rare 96-26” tour featuring Alfa Romeo as Official Mobility Partner, with the compact Junior sports car.
The 1900 Super Sprint – a favorite of gentleman drivers in the 1950s – will be accompanied along the route of the 1000 Miglia by a fleet of current Alfa Romeo models, including the spectacular Giulia Quadrifoglio Luna Rossa, making its road debut here as the new limited series made in only ten units worldwide, all of which have already been sold. The best possible proof of the common thread that has always held together the Biscione brand's cars of the past and present, it embodies that innate attitude to sportiness and high performance, which translate into an engaging and visceral driving experience in everyday life.
Aboard the custom-built car, Santo Ficili – Alfa Romeo CEO and Maserati COO – stated: "The 1000 Miglia represents a fundamental chapter in our history and is one of the pillars on which the brand's identity stands. The 11 trophies won on the roads of this legendary race have helped to define what Alfa Romeo remains today: a sporty, victorious brand that can transform passion into records and bring its racing spirit to everyday roads. Being here today with the largest number of cars ever in the race, with the fascinating 1900 Super Sprint and with our Brand Ambassadors, is a great source of pride and is the most authentic way to celebrate our roots. There could be no better setting for the dynamic debut of the Giulia Quadrifoglio Luna Rossa, the latest creation by BOTTEGAFUORISERIE, having taken the production Quadrifoglio's abilities to the limit.”
The Alfa Romeo 1900 Super Sprint is fitted with a 2-liter 4-cylinder engine (1975 cc) with the brand’s characteristic twin camshaft and an output of 115 hp at 5,500 rpm, resulting in sporting performance that remains of note to this day. An elegant coupé with bodywork by Touring – the renowned Milan coachbuilder founded in 1926 and celebrating its centenary this year – it represents the “gran turismo” class of the 20th century, “the family car that wins races” in the words of the claim that made its fame in the 1950s. In those years, it was customary for the great Italian designers to buy a mechanized chassis from Alfa Romeo, complementing it with bodywork designed and produced in-house. The most successful model came from Milan's Touring, whose version of the Alfa Romeo 1900 Super Sprint is still considered one of the most balanced and sophisticated coupés ever produced for the Biscione brand. From 1955 to 1958, almost 599 models were produced.
The unbreakable bond between Alfa Romeo and the 1000 Miglia
Between 1927 and 1957, the 1000 Miglia was a speed race, followed by an initial celebratory edition organized in partnership with Alfa Romeo in 1977. From 1982, it then became a regularity race reserved for models that once ran in the earlier competitive events or were produced around the same time. At the second edition in 1928, Alfa Romeo won the individual and team rankings, with finishes for all its cars that started the race. On April 1, 1928, Giuseppe Campari and Giulio Ramponi climbed to the top step of the podium with the 6C 1500 Super Sport, one of Vittorio Jano’s absolute masterpieces, which stood out for its innovative mechanical architecture, with a turbocharged fixed head. The 1500 covered the 1,618 km of the route at an impressive average speed of 84 km/h, achieving the first of Alfa Romeo's 11 successes, seven of which were consecutive from 1932 to 1938: a record that can never be beaten, establishing the unbreakable bond between Alfa Romeo and the 1000 Miglia, two Made in Italy brands that shine out on the world scene.
Giulia Quadrifoglio Luna Rossa
Developed as part of the BOTTEGAFUORISERIE universe, the Giulia Quadrifoglio Luna Rossa perfectly embodies its philosophy – to create unique, technologically advanced machines deeply rooted in Italian excellence – and is the first concrete product resulting from the partnership between Alfa Romeo and Luna Rossa, due to face the challenge together at the 38th America's Cup in the iconic Bay of Naples. In terms of aerodynamics, it is the most efficient Quadrifoglio model ever: the new low-drag kit in carbon fiber – consisting of appendages on the front bumper, a pair of profiles on the bottom of the bodywork, dedicated side skirts, and the spectacular rear wing – generates up to five times more downforce than the production version, ensuring exceptional stability at all speeds. At 300 km/h, it reaches a peak of 140 kg downforce with very high aerodynamic efficiency values.
The exteriors are embellished with an iridescent paint, inspired by the colors of the AC75 Luna Rossa boat that took part in the 37th America's Cup in Barcelona in 2024, while the two-tone contrast – bonnet, roof and rear in black combined with gray – enhances the sculpted lines, conveying an unprecedented, sporty elegance. The Alfa Romeo logos come in red, a symbol of passion and competitive spirit. Inside, the Sparco seats stand out, upholstered with textures and graphics inspired by the Personal Flotation Devices (PFDs) used by the boat’s crew. The dashboard is a one-off, given the original material taken from sails, a detail that conveys the synergy with the racing world on the water.
