Three kings of the Nürburgring go on display

New arrivals in the Mythos Alfa Romeo retrospective.

March 11, 2020

Inaugurated on 19 September 2019, the Mythos Alfa Romeo exhibition celebrates the more than 100-year history of the legendary Milanese manufacturer. The ever-evolving layout now includes three Alfa Romeo models that recently conquered the Nürburgring.

Legendary victories, unforgettable models and great milestones in Alfa Romeo’s history: "Mythos Alfa Romeo" is the exhibition at the Technik Museum in Sinsheim that marks the 110-year anniversary of the Milanese automaker.

This dynamic themed exhibition with an unconventional format, which displays 40 of the brand's most recognisable cars in rotation, now incorporates three new supercars that made Alfa Romeo history right here in Germany, on the Nürburgring circuit.

In 2013 the Alfa Romeo 4C, still in its experimental version and driven by Horst Von Saurma, set the fastest lap time for a sub-250 HP car in 8 minutes and 4 seconds, on a par with much more powerful sportscars.

Subsequently in 2015, all eyes were on the Giulia Quadrifoglio and test driver Fabio Francia. Behind the wheel of the manual-equipped car, Francia lapped the track in 7 minutes 39 seconds, a time that he subsequently improved to 7:32 in the eight-speed automatic model, which is the one exhibited in Sinsheim. The record time—established in the four-door saloon class—stands out on the bonnet of the car, next to the signatures of the driver and all the crew members who prepared it.

Two years later in September 2017, Fabio Francia went one better in the Stelvio Quadrifoglio, lapping the 12.9-mile Nordschleife (north loop) in an unprecedented 7 minutes 51.7 seconds. This time earned the Stelvio Quadrifoglio the title of world’s fastest production SUV, setting a new class record by shaving eight seconds off the previous benchmark.

The three cars are on display at the Technik Museum until the end of the year, along with other prestigious Alfa Romeos from the past.
