The 24th edition of the Vernasca Silver Flag celebrates the 120th anniversary of Fiat.

It is not long now to the Vernasca Silver Flag 2019, the historic re-enactment of the Castell'Arquato-Vernasca hill climb, held from 1953 to 1972, open only to racing cars built from the origins of motoring to the early Seventies.

The rolling concours d'elegance dedicates its 24th edition to the theme "La Fiat va di corsa" ["Racing Fiat"], to celebrate two very important birthdays:  120 years for Fiat and 70 for Abarth.

FCA Heritage plays a major role in this famous event based near Piacenza. The stand of the Group department dedicated to safeguarding and promoting the historic legacy of FCA's Italian brands hosts two iconic cars of immense prestige: the Fiat 8V (1954) and the Abarth 2400 coupé (1964).

The first car marks a return to the origins of the race. In fact, the Fiat 8V driven by Giovanni Auricchio won the second edition of the competition, in 1954. This was its second success for the Turin constructor, which had also been victorious the previous year, in the very first Vernasca Silver Flag.

The Abarth 2400 coupé, built by the Allemano coachworks, was the car that won the heart of Carlo Abarth. The perfect embodiment of the Abarth concept of car construction, it was the personal car of the brand's founder, who insisted on exhibiting it at the 1964 Geneva International Motor Show, even though it was no longer in production.
